Larger reviews land in the same place. A 2024 meta-analysis in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research by Desai and colleagues found that, compared with resistance training alone, creatine added roughly 1.14 kg of lean body mass while reducing body fat by about 0.73 kg and 0.88 percentage points: small effects, and always alongside training, never instead of it (DOI). A separate 2024 dose-response meta-analysis in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition by Pashayee-Khamene and colleagues pooled 143 studies and reported only a -0.28% change in body fat percentage, again most pronounced when creatine was paired with resistance training (DOI).
